Thoughts on “The Shack” by Paul Young

I have not read this book yet, when I can get my hands on it I will certainly do so.
I have read and heard a few sermons on this book. It seems the concern is that this book is regarded as a Christian book, yet it conflicts with the Word of God in a few places.

I understand this is fiction, but we must remember even fiction can cause harm.

Below are some thoughts on the book. I hope you will read and listen and draw your own conclusion.

Ross S. Olson gives a quick overview of the book and you can find it there.

My conclusion:

After reading and listening to all the above, I come away with that thought that they are all saying to view this book with caution and discernment. There a few places in the work that do not line up with the Bible and the teachings of Christ.

Also a warning to those who are very young in Christ  very careful and perhaps not read it at all or at very least have a mentor who can guide you to the correct readings in Scripture.

Just a few parting thoughts….

Luke 6:44
For each tree is known by its own fruit. Indeed, people do not gather figs from thornbushes, or grapes from brambles.

1 John 1-3
1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you will know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming, and is already in the world at this time.…1 John 1-3

Have a Blessed day!

Vacation Bible School 2013 Hay Day-Growing in Jesus Christ

Sunday was the final day of our Vacation Bible School this year. It was a great event! It was our first attempt at Vacation Bible School! I pray it will be the beginning of a new tradition here at Romulus Free Will Baptist Church!

I am not sure who enjoyed it more the kids or the adults!

Praise Him!

Praise Him!

There is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to help us to get ready!

We had a visit from Sunflower Sam, a new farmer that didn’t have a clue about farming!
Sam learned that he needed to talk to another farmer to learn to grow in the farming business, just as we need to learn to grow in Jesus by spending time with Him and others that know Jesus.

Zacchaeus came to visit too! We learned all who came to Jesus,  even those that are selfish, mean and not likeable. Jesus loves. He will spend time with you if you’ll but invite him to spend time with you!

I will be sharing some more photos and videos soon!

God Bless
